MWDSI President’s Message
Dear MWDSI Colleagues:
As my term as MWDSI President officially started this past April, I would like to celebrate together with you some of our accomplishments as an organization and help set the tone for the next chapters. But first, I want to thank our MWDSI members and board of directors for their trust in me and my work. I have had the privilege to serve the MWDSI for several years in different roles. Since 2015 I have served as conference reviewer, session chair, track chair, and even as a co-host for the 2019 MWDSI Conference at the Butler University campus in Indianapolis, IN. Since 2019, I have served on the board of directors as secretary (2019-2021) and President-Elect (2021-2022) side by side with great colleagues.
Our 2022 MWDSI Conference hosted by Oakland University on April 8-9 virtually was a great success and one of our largest conferences to date. 105 papers were presented, 47 of them being student papers, 58 academic and industry submissions, divided into 41 full papers and 64 abstracts. All submissions went through a detailed initial peer-review process with at least two reviewers and then separate committees rated the top papers in each category for the best paper awards. In addition, we hosted an industry expert panel and a journal editors panel. We also welcomed the first year of the partnership with the Kelley School of Business Manufacturing Center and the Annual Gregg Sherrill Student Case Competition.
I want to end with a special callout to Ceyhun Ozgur, Sanjay Kumar, Peggy Lee, Osman Aydas, Jeong Hoon Choi, and Sourish Sarkar for a great teamwork over the last couple of years. I am looking forward to welcoming the new president-elect and VP of members services. This is a great moment for MWDSI, and I am honored to be part of this wonderful organization.
Janaina (Jane) Siegler
