2026 MIDWEST DECISION SCIENCES CONFERENCE

STUDENT CASE COMPETITION
Each school may enter one team of 3–4 undergraduate students, all actively enrolled at the same university during the competition. A faculty adviser may accompany the team, but is not required. Faculty advisers must register separately for the conference.
The competition spans two days: case distribution and a facility tour on April 10, followed by team presentations on April 11, 2026 (detailed schedule TBD). Participation is limited to 11 teams.
 
Awards for the winning teams: $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $200 for third place.
 
If your school is interested, please contact the conference chair, Dr. Bulent Erenay (erenayb1@nku.edu), before registering your team. Additional information regarding the case will be provided later.

Preliminary Schedule for Friday, April 10, 2026

9:30 – 11:30 -- Case Competition Tour Starts at Modula

Please wear closed-toed shoes suitable for walking in a manufacturing environment. No high heels. Modula will provide any necessary PPE.

11:30 – 1:00 -- Student Work Time and Lunch

  • Who – Students
  • Where – Modula USA, Ohio
  • Team work areas will be assigned upon arrival

1:00 – 2:00 -- Competition Q&A with Modula and Case Study Authors

  • Who – Student Teams Only
  • Where – Modula USA Ohio

2:00 – 7:30 pm -- Return to NKU, Student Work Time, and Dinner

  • Who – Students
  • Where – NKU Haile College of Business (1 Louie B Nunn Dr BC206, Highland Heights, KY 41099)
  • Team work areas will be assigned upon arrival
  • Dinner time – TBD

Preliminary Schedule for Saturday, April 11, 2026

8:00 am -- Presentation Submission Deadline

  • PowerPoint presentation must be submitted by 8 am to belwoodgam1@nku.edu
  • PowerPoint must be named with the assigned team name

9:00 am -- Presentations Begin

  • Students must report to the waiting area by 8:45 am. Presentation times will be randomly assigned.
  • Students can only attend their presentation.
  • Please bring something to occupy your time. No practice area will be provided.

12:00 Noon -- Lunch, Award Ceremony, and Finale
